how to detox the right way ☣️

Hey friend,

You and I are living in a human zoo experiment.

Tens of thousands of untested chemicals now saturate our food, water, air, and environment.

Heavy metals, VOCs, plastics, pesticides, fluoride, pharmaceuticals—the list goes on.

Your body wasn’t built to handle this toxic load…

Human-made toxins (xenobiotics) get stuck in your system, wreaking havoc on your brain, gut, immunity, hormones, mental health, and more.

I know this firsthand. Toxicity wrecked my early twenties—crippling brain fog, memory loss, bizarre neurological symptoms, relentless fatigue, and tanked testosterone. My life was hell.

These toxins aren’t going anywhere. And they’re a silent driver of chronic disease and lost vitality.

If you're living in the modern world (safe to assume if you're reading this), toxins are impacting you. The question isn’t if—it’s how much?

So, what can you do about it?

The 3-R Detox System to effectively detoxify your brain and body

Detox isn’t a 10-day juice cleanse, a water fast, or a pill. It’s not seasonal, trendy, or a quick fix.

Detox is a lifestyle. A holistic, ongoing process.

The goal isn’t to react to toxins but to stay ahead of them by supporting detox organs, reducing exposure, and taking care of your entire system.

1) Reduce toxin exposure

The solution to pollution is dilution.

As my herbal mentor Christopher Smaka said, "When detoxing, you must turn off the faucet before draining the tub."

Before you focus on detox, first cut off the biggest sources of toxin exposure: 'turn off the faucet'.

Food

Prioritize organic, locally-grown, unprocessed foods.

Be mindful of hidden toxins, such as mercury in fish, arsenic in rice, and mycotoxins in grains, legumes, nuts, aged cheeses, and processed meats.

If organic isn't always possible, refer to the EWG’s Clean Fifteen for safer conventional options and the Dirty Dozen for must-buy organic foods.

What you cook with matters too.

Ditch toxic omega-6 seed oils and toss Teflon, aluminum, plastic, and enameled cookware. Instead, opt for high-quality stainless steel—I use All-Clad.

Water

Stop drinking municipal water. It's filled with heavy metals, pesticides, herbicides, industrial pollutants, pharmacueticals, and more...

Filter your drinking water with a solid block carbon filter (I use Berkey, now Boroux) or a multi-stage under-sink system.

For your bathwater, use the Berkey shower filter.

Air

Indoor air is often more toxic than outdoor air. Here’s how to fix that:

  1. Open your windows.
  2. Get outside more.
  3. Use a high-quality air purifier—I use the Intellipure.

Products

Another major toxin exposure area is the products you use, be it personal care, beauty, cleaning, and air fresheners.

Ditch all toxic synthetic products and choose the simplest, most natural ingredients possible.

If it contains a chemical you can’t identify or pronounce, don’t use it. Simple as that.

Environment

Modern home construction is a breeding ground for mold—one of the most neurotoxic, immunosuppressive, and carcinogenic biotoxins.

I battled mold toxicity, and it was the hardest fight of my life.

You can live in a mold-contaminated home without even knowing.

Be aware of your living environment—use the EPA's Environmental Relative Moldiness Index (ERMI) test for a simple check.

2) Reduce toxic load and susceptibility

Next, reduce the toxins already in your body to lighten the load.

By clearing out the gunk, your detox organs—liver, kidneys, lymphatic system, lungs, digestive system, and skin—function better, helping you build long-term resilience to toxins.

Toxin binders

To ensure toxins are excreted and not recirculated, detox binders are key.

Binders, like activated charcoal, zeolite, and Bentonite clay, attach to toxins in the gut, allowing them to be eliminated through stool instead of being reabsorbed.

I prefer a comprehensive binder like G.I. Detox.

Sweat

Sweating is a powerful detox tool, as sweat eliminates heavy metals, mold toxins (mycotoxins), and more.

Far infrared saunas are the most effective for detox, followed by traditional wet or dry saunas, and steam saunas.

With modern sedentary lifestyles, many aren't sweating enough, turning into toxic cesspools—leading me to my next point…

Movement

Movement offers more than just heart health and muscle maintenance.

It burns fat, breaks down tissue, reduces inflammation, lowers stress, boosts circulation, and mobilizes stored toxins.

The best movements for detox:

  • Stretching: Activates muscles and moves fluid (e.g., Yoga)
  • Cardio: Boosts circulation and fat burning (e.g., HIIT, dancing, skateboarding, jogging, cycling)
  • Jumping: Increases lymphatic flow (e.g., Rebounding, trampoline, jump rope)

Destress

When stuck in fight-or-flight mode, your body prioritizes survival over health.

But in a calm, balanced state, your parasympathetic nervous system activates—helping you rest, digest, detoxify, and heal.

Whether it's meditation, yoga, neurofeedback, or neural retraining, make a practice part of your routine to reap the detox benefits.

Intermittently fast

Taking time away from food activates autophagy—your body’s natural repair mode.

Autophagy cleans out damaged cells, toxins, and dysfunctional components to maintain cellular health.

Simply skip breakfast and focus on larger lunch and dinner meals—you'll likely end up following the 16:8 fasting method (16 hours fasting, 8 hours eating).

Detox nutrients and supplements

For effective detoxification, your body needs the right nutrients. Include these:

  • Minerals: Selenium, Molybdenum, Zinc, Magnesium
  • Vitamins: C, D, E, A, and extra B2 and B3

To support the organs of detoxification—liver-gallbladder, kidneys, gut, and lymph consider taking:

  • Milk thistle
  • Gentian
  • Goldenrod
  • Artichoke leaf
  • Dandelion root
  • Ginger

Enhance detoxification with these supplements:

  • Glutathione (liposomal form)
  • N-acetyl-cysteine (NAC)
  • Alpha-Lipoic Acid (ALA)
  • S-Adenosylmethionine (SAMe)

4) Repair damage

Toxins accumulated over years or decades harm organs, tissues, and cells.

Repairing this damage is crucial for restoring balance and optimal function, starting at the cellular level.

To support cellular membranes, which are most vulnerable to toxins, take:

  • Phosphatidylcholine
  • Omega-3s.

Toxin buildup also causes inflammation and oxidative stress.

To repair this, use supplements like PQQ, Quercetin, Liposomal Vitamin C, and Turmeric to turn off the fire and reduce oxidation.

Detox isn’t a one-time fix—it’s a holistic system that supports overall health and vitality.

It’s not about a juice cleanse, fast, or supplement.

It’s about creating a lifestyle that reduces exposure, lowers toxic load, builds resilience, and repairs any damage.

I'm curious…

  • Do you feel like you need to detox?
  • How do you approach detoxification?
  • Are you interested in trying any of the methods I mentioned?

See you next Saturday,

Hey friend, Today, "nootropics" are all the rage in biohacking and wellness circles. But the idea of sharpening the mind and protecting the brain isn’t new—it’s ancient. The term nootropic was coined in the 1970s by Dr. Corneliu Giurgea after he discovered Piracetam, a synthetic compound shown to enhance cognition and memory. [1,2] He defined nootropics as substances that “guide the mind”—from the Greek nöos (mind) and tropein (to guide). The NeuroDose is fueled by: Phase One Brain Drops A...

Hey friend, Western medicine treats depression like a chemical glitch. SSRIs, SNRIs, dopamine modulators—everything is reduced to neurotransmitters. But what if depression isn’t just a brain chemistry problem? What if it’s a disconnection problem? Visit remote villages, third-world regions, or, even better, intact indigenous communities. You won’t find the same epidemic of depression we see in the industrialized world. Why? Because people are embedded in webs of meaning, belonging, and...

Hey friend, I get asked at least five times a day: “Where can I get psilocybin mushrooms?” And I get it—sourcing them isn’t always easy. Especially if you’ve moved, lost your old connections, or don’t feel like asking the hippies in the park for a bag of boomers. Plus, finding legit sources online is a minefield… Scammers in your DMs, shady vendors selling mystery capsules, and even trusted sources tend to disappear overnight. But here’s the good news: You can grow your own. The NeuroDose is...
