mixing microdosing & pharmaceuticals

Hey friend,

When I was a young lad, taking as many psychoactive substances as possible was practically a sport in my friend group.

We’d keep score:

Cannabis? A no-brainer.

LSD? Check.

MDMA? Check.

Alcohol? Of course.

And God only knows what else…

It was a wild chemical cocktail—what we’d jokingly call a “Jeffrey” (shoutout Get Him to the Greek).

Looking back, we were playing with fire.

Sure, our teenage bodies were resilient enough to withstand the chaos, but that doesn’t mean they should!

Some combinations are relatively harmless. Others? Downright dangerous… especially when you don’t fully understand the pharmacology involved.

Fast forward a decade: I’m no longer experimenting recklessly. I have to be intentional because I lost my health.

Microdosing and medications

Years of battling mold toxicity (aka Chronic Inflammatory Response Syndrome) taught me the hard way that my body wasn’t invincible.

Psychedelics became part of my healing, specifically microdosing, which helped me manage neurological, psychological, and cognitive symptoms.

However, my doctor then suggested I try Low-Dose Naltrexone (LDN).

While it’s typically used to treat opioid and alcohol dependence in higher doses, LDN has promising off-label benefits for neuroinflammation and chronic pain—two of my worst symptoms.

I was intrigued… but also hesitant.

My microdosing protocol was working. I didn’t want to abandon it. But I also didn’t know if it was safe to combine with LDN.

Gone were the days of reckless combos. I wanted to do this right.

My go-to psychedelic drug interaction resources

As interest in microdosing (and macrodosing) for mental health and performance skyrockets, it’s crucial to know how psychedelics might interact with your pharmaceuticals.

But let’s be honest, talking to your doctor about psychedelics isn’t always easy.

Some are open-minded, others… not so much.

Thankfully, Dr. James Fadiman (the godfather of microdosing) created a trusted list of medications, supplements, and drugs that have not shown adverse effects when combined with microdosing LSD or psilocybin.

It covers everything from antidepressants and benzos to painkillers and birth-control to antipsychotics and recreational drugs.

Fortunately, Naltrexone made the list, giving me the green light to safely continue microdosing LSD or psilocybin alongside it.

So if you’ve been struggling to find reliable info on drug interactions and microdosing, this resource can help:

Microdosing and Medications

⚠️ Note: This applies to LSD and psilocybin microdosing only. Other substances may have different interactions.

If you’re looking to go deeper into compound interactions—especially when working with higher-dose psychedelics—this is another resource I highly recommend.

It’s a comprehensive chart that breaks down combinations into low-risk, caution, unsafe, and dangerous categories.

Things are shifting here at NeuroDoses. If you’ve been around for a while, you’ve probably felt the shift yourself. I’ve slowly moved from general brain-health content into a much more focused world: psychedelics. (Not a huge leap, considering psychedelics are some of the most powerful brain-healing tools we know.) Here’s why I’m evolving the direction: 1. I’m a clinical herbalist at my core. My roots have always been in the natural world — plants, fungi, and the medicine Mother Earth gives...

While psilocybin, LSD, and DMT dominate the psychedelic headlines, there’s one compound that remains wildly overlooked... despite its safety, history, and therapeutic potential. And no, I’m not talking about MDMA, ibogaine, or 5-MeO-DMT. I’m talking about mescaline. My Favorite Psychedelic: Mescaline A classic psychedelic through and through, and one of my personal favorites for both macro- and microdosing. It’s been a powerful medicine for my personal growth, creative work, and yeah… the...

Let me blow your mind for a second. There’s a real theory backed by ethnomycology, anthropology, and Siberian shamanic tradition that Santa Claus isn’t just a whimsical invention... ...but a mythologized echo of ancient mushroom-shamans, filtered through centuries of folklore and Christianity.
